A beloved father is dead, his body twisted by violent convulsions, but the police have written it off as a natural.

The family refuses to accept their judgment and begs Ammar to investigate. The problem is, nearly every clue points to suicide.

Since opening Ghazi Ammar’s Agency of Investigation and Implementation, he’s done nothing but chase after errant husbands for chinks of coin. Ammar longs to give his wife and son everything they deserve, but he can barely afford what little they have. This investigation could be Ammar’s big break.

Meanwhile, his partner, Zaytuna, is running her own case, and helping out with his, all while juggling motherhood and a household full of chosen family. It feels like she has to keep everyone’s fires burning. When her case opens up old wounds, she has to face that she might not know what is best for everyone, after all.

With his family breathing down his neck, demanding he return to goat herding, and Zaytuna meddling in his affairs, Ammar is determined to make something out of this investigation.
