Small Justice

Coming 2026
The characters from The Sufi Mysteries Quartet return in a new series
Ghazi Ammar’s Agency of Investigation and Implementation.

The police have written off the death of a beloved father as an accident. His family refuses to believe it and begs Ammar to investigate, if only for answers. Problem is, they cannot pay, money Ammar sorely needs. When Ammar talks to the police as a courtesy, they stonewall him, whetting his appetite for the case, paid or not, and leading him to uncover a secret better left dead.

Ammar at-Tabbani, former frontier fighter and investigator with Baghdad’s Grave Crimes Section opens a private detective agency. But he cannot do it alone. Zaytuna, along with a stable of nosey old women run by Yulduz, uncover secrets beyond Ammar’s reach. Saliha and Firdaws Ibn Ali handle forensics. In a later instalment, a Norse woman, Nemain, newly settled in Baghdad, provides muscle and a sword to rival Ammar’s own.
